Approximately 125 letters written in 1908-1909 to Mary Fisher Wright (b. May 25, 1884), when she was in the Western United States, particularly in Pasadena and Santa Barbara, California. Nearly all of the letters are from her extended family. The letters recount family matters and the doings of the interrelated Wright, Fisher, Fox, and Wister families of the neighboring Germantown (Pa.) estates of "Waldheim," "Wakefield," "Little Wakefield," "Belfield," and "Wister." A large number of letters are from Mary's mother (Letitia Ellicott Carpenter Wright, 1861-1933) and father (William Redwood Wright, 1846-1914; once City Treasurer of Philadelphia). Among the other writers are Mary's siblings Letitia Ellicott Wright (1882-1936), Hannah Price Wright (signed "H.P.," 1888- ), Elizabeth Rodman Wright Hoffman (1890-1963), Sydney Longstreth Wright (1896- ), and Annette Newhall Wright Wood (1903-1986); her "Aunt Bess" (Elizabeth Rodman Fisher Carpenter Glendinning; 1870-1942); her cousins Hannah Fox (1858-1933), Ella Eustis Wister Haines (1879-1969), Sarah Logan Wister Starr (1873-1956), and Mary Lindley Fox Devereux (signed "Lindley," 1884- ).
